Dell M60 doesnt recognise DVD R/RW

Can anyone help please...

My Dell M60 does NOT recognise my DVD R/RW Player.

1. Nor does it appear at all when I look under MY COMPUTER

2. ... and when I look in Device Manager I see 2 errors: Secondary IDE Channel This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) Communications Port (COM4) This device cannot start. (Code 10)

You need to replace the DVD R/W drive. Not hard to do but rather expensive for the part

reseat the drive. If BIOS still does not see it, the drive needs to be replaced.

I did replace the DVD R/W drive with a new one. The new one was fine for about three weeks (ie I could see it in MY COMPUTER)...... then after about three weeks it dissapeared again.

So you will have to try another drive... and return the 3-week old one
