In the SIW programme click on the +next to the hardware icon in the lefthand pane, then click on video in the left hand pane. You should now be able to see the details of your video hardware in the right hand pane.

Another way to find out what video card you have is.

Right click on a blank part of your desktop, and select properties. Click on the settings tab. Under display, it should tell you what video card you have.

Regards Howard :)

you are still not telling me what I am looking for.
sorry it took so long for me to answer back but i didnt see your new messages.

I just want to say 1 more thing, sorry for sounding eargnt but onborad video wasn't made for gaming, it was for standerd offices use watching a movie, simple stuff.

where is AdapterCompatibility? is it under hardware- video- DirectX??

It means compatible video cards.

I take it you still can`t find out what video card you have.

I wouldn`t mind betting that your video card isn`t capable of playing the Sims2 game. Either you will need to upgrade your video card, if you computer will allow. Or you need a better computer.

Without knowing your system specs it`s difficult for me to know what you need.

Sorry I see what you mean now.

In the SIW programme that you downloaded. In the hardware section/video that`s what it says about my video card.

I.E I have an Nvidia geforce 4 mx 4000 video card.

What I need to know is what it says about your video card.

Alternatively try right clicking on your desktop, and selecting properties, then the settings tab. Your video card will be listed there.

The problem I`m having is. Untill I know what video card you currently have, and also what mobo you have it`s impossible for me to give you any advice, on what to do next.

directx 9.0c trouble

Hi,

I don't know if im even in the right forum or what but i seen directx trouble... anyway i bought the sims2 and installed it but it won't work bc i haven't installed directx 9.0c but that aint the problem... when i try to install the dx9.0c it says that "the software you are installing has not passed the windows logo test" or something to that effect. I've checked everything and my computer is compatible with the game but i dont know what this digital signature/logo thingy is. can someone help me? post a reply or email me.

That just means it hasn't been officially blessed by the MS gods. Go ahead and load it anyway. It won't hurt you. The drivers have just not been certified in MS's voluntary logo certification problem. A lot of different devices and programs will display that message. Read more here

what's up?
Luvhuffer.... great icon by the way.... i can't just ignore it it won't let me finish installing and i've downloaded the dx9c from microsoft's website and it still says that it hasn't been signed

I have a laptop as my name says.. i am a wicked newb so help me out.. can graphics cards be installed into laptops and Desktop PC's the same or are there separate cards for the laptop? This thing came with a stock Graphic Card and its a piece of ****, and I too can not run THe Sims 2.. what kinda graphics cards for this laptop would b able to run it?

So what are you saying. You get the message and the download goes no further? Is this what you are seeing? And you are getting this when you try to install 9.0c after downloading from MS? Last question. Are you downloading it off the MS downloads section, or off of the windows update app?

hi,
When i am trying to install it i get something similar to that message except at the bottom there is not a "continue installing" button. There is just one and it says "ok". and another thing it also says on the error message, "this software will not be installed please contact hardware supplier blah blah..." And when i click the ok button it stops my installation. I got the version of directx from the game cd i bought and when it wouldn't work i downloaded it from the MS download section. I dont know if this matters but currently i have dx9.0b and on the dxdiag display page it says that the file "ialmrnt.dll has not been whql'd logo'd" then on the sound page it says another file hasn't been signed. Also am i supposed to have an AGP accelerator bc it says that one is not available. i appreciate ur fast responses and i'd like some more. the place i bought the game from will only let me exchange it for the same thing and im araid i'll have the same trouble.

hi,
I got the directx installed on my computer... turns out i hadn't updated some stuff so i got them all updated and it installed fine... but now wehn i try to play the game i get a blank error message. It just says "Sims 2" and its got an ok button and the red x button. i dont know if this has nething to do with directx or not but on the sims support website it said that the compatibility of my drivers was unknown. if they are compatible with directx then why would they not be with game. I have the intel82845g graphics controller and realtekac97 audio. the only thing is am i supposed to have AGP accelerator bc it says that i dont have one. thanx again for the help

ugh

ugh i have re-downloaded Sims 2 and DirectX 9.0c so many times its not even funny! each time it says that i dont have DirectX 9.0c compatible graphic adapters and i have down everything you guys have said and im going nuts!! ive had Sims since last year and i cant get it to work!!!

What is your graphics card? Just because you install DirectX 9.0c doesn't mean your graphics card supports it.

Rawr, that's a CPU not a graphics card. How do you know if your PC meets the minimum system requirements for the game then?
