Don't know what's causing these strange Ws in XP

Something is happening with my pc over the past few days. I don't know if it has anything to do with my son enabling Korean language on the computer, but it seems to have happened about the same time. Maybe coincidental. Anyway, I'm attaching a .jpg file of my screen so you can see what these weird Ws that have appeared in place of forward slashes. Let me know what you think.

Does it still happen after a restart?- could just be a glitch. Or try reinstalling the programs that have the problem.
If it is a universal problem, then u had better think about switching to the Spyware/Malware removal thread

its definately viral, search google for a fix, a guy had same issue at techhardware forums.
