Internet Explorer 11 was only available for Windows 8.1 until yesterday, but as of today anyone with Windows 7 can download and install the browser too. Although it's not the finished code, this Preview for Developers includes many of the features...

This is by far the most bizarre IE distribution strategy ever. They offer it only to Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 users, but not to Windows 8 users?

I tried to install it on Windows 8, just in case, and the installer said: "Setup can't continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer". And my version of Internet Explorer is 10.

It is weird, but with 8.1 being free and with a lot of improvements over 8... well, nobody's going to stay on 8, so I'm sure they just don't want to bother testing for it.

Installed it and the text is horrible. It's too thick and aliased. Reminds me of Firefox a few versions ago.

IE needs a serious UI overhaul. Like yesterday.

Otherwise, it's actually a fast browser; faster than Firefox for sure. Can't tell the diffidence between Chrome.

Sounds like MS are giving Win 8 a vote of no confidence.
