Dvd burner troubleshoot

A dvd burner was recently installed in my computer and everything was working fine but now four months later I can only burn cds but not dvds. I can watch dvds however but when I try to burn dvds the drive ejects and asks for a blank dvd even though one is already in the tray. I am confused and not sure what to do. Please help.

What you are saying is normal operation

When the DVD (inserted or not) is ready to be burnt, your DVD tray will open asking for the disc. You can then put in the disc (even the same one that was already in there originally)

This is just the default normal operation of the program that you are using
