emulators- are they legal + if so where can i get them?

can anyone tell me a bit about emulators? i dont know much about them apart from that they let you play old nintendo games on the pc. are they legal? if so how can i get them? do i just download them from a site or something?...any help is welcome..thank you

yeah im pretty sure emulators are legal if u actually own the game, but u can pretty much get them from any site if u go to google and type anything like emulation or stuff like that

Getting the ROMs is harder.

as if it is hard you just go to sites like google and type in roms or snes roms or w/e u want, i did this and i found like 68,900,000 results for roms.

the roms are hard to come by because its essentially giving away the game. but it should be legal to have in your possession roms that you own the game for.
