As we get deeper and deeper into this, It feels more and more like a Trojan Virus has opened doors for nasties to invade your system. No antivirus program is 100% effective. Have you been good about removing your temp files and cookies? Download CCleaner and Glary Utilities and run these. They are free, and they are very good. I hope it's not too late

Glary Utilities is one I don't have. I'll download that in just a second. However Ccleaner is one I use pretty religiously. I run it normally about 2-3 times a week

Glary Utilities has been ran and fixed a few issues. It's weird I've ran a couple of registry cleaners already (amust registry, errorsmart, regcure) and now Glary Utilities and they've all found problems. My computer hasn't shut down on me again yet but then again it only seems to happen every few hours. I know I did have a problem with my fan sometime ago that I fixed. However when it was messed up my computer simply shut down and wouldn't restart for hours.

it just shut down again. I did a scan previous to the shut down for any spyware and adware and it removed some but not much.

I have no idea what your system is or what it's specs are, so I can't recommend a power supply replacement. Power supplies can range between $25 to $200, so there is a lot of options. Do you have a friend that may have spare computer parts?

I dunno what all information you would need as far as type of power supply but i'm running on an HP Pavillion Windows XP Pentium r 4 CPU 2.80 GHZ

I have a friend who does have some spare parts come to think of it I do remember him having a power supply I just don't know if it's compatible. he was given a whole bunch of parts from his job

If you could get an ATX 350 Watt it might work... most power supplies are made for the Pentium 4's auxillary 12 volt connector. What Is your Pavilion, model number?

well let me see. it looks to be A819N

product numbers and everything else is available also if I should need to get them

Ok I think a standard ATX power power supply will work fine. The one supplied is a 300 Watt. The motherboard is an Asus 2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4. Built in 2005
