Windows 11 is here to stay. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, buy a Mac or switch to Linux. But constantly complaining isn’t going to change anything. Microsoft only started dialing back some of the intrusive AI features because they’re finally facing real competition again, especially with Apple offering more affordable MacBooks, something Microsoft had a clear advantage on for over two decades.

At the end of the day, you’ve got options. You can spend a little time learning how to clean up and customize

I worked in IT support for 27+ years. Mostly in the UNIX/Linux space. We had Windows laptops with different tools to help analyze problems.
I have Windows and and Windows 11 PCs and an older Intel based Imac. I prefer Windows 10, but Windows 11 is OK. Not a fan of all the AI stuff they want to stuff into Win 11.
I have no religious feelings about Windows, Mac or Linux. Outside of general usage I do some graphic editing and Windows works fine for me.
If you build your own machines there is always a chance for problems with updates.
I have tried multiple Linux distros. I have problems mostly with getting Linux working on different graphics adapters.

What does any of that have to do with Windows or OS choices? This isn’t a political thread. If you want to vent about politics, there are plenty of places for that....this isn’t one of them.

So you’re running Linux, I assume? And no, I’m not being sarcastic.

How is gaming on it, and do you actually use it for work? For me, gaming was pretty hit or miss. I mostly play WoW Classic, SC2, and some older Steam titles, and even those didn’t always run consistently or at all.

On the productivity side, it wasn’t any better. Outside of basic stuff like Word and Excel equivalents, getting things to work like Compass 2.0 Downloader was no go, Autocad...pffffft and Gimp is no where near PS....close for someone doing basic art work maybe and I could never find anything close to Illustrator, Inkscape....no, it is not a replacement and the github for it, nope.

I’ve found it a lot easier to spend under an hour tuning Windows 11 to my liking than spending hours, or even days, trying to get everything working properly on Linux and still running into issues. I just don't have time.

I wish Linux would be easier, and if I had the time, maybe...but I can not see it replacing Windows, at least not for the majority, any time soon.

Honestly, I think, at least for your workflow, a Mac would be the better choice. That's what I'm looking into because like you, I need support for commercial software that just doesn't have any Linux equivalents.

I do, I have a M4 Mac Mini Pro along with 2 PCs, one Intel and one AMD.

I do still tinker, just not as much as Linux requires.
