Bethesda on Friday kept its word by pushing out update 1.5 for Fallout 4 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those on the PC received the update last week via Steam.

Update 1.5 for consoles introduces a new Survival mode that Bethesda says forces players to make “interesting” choices.

Designed for those that really want to challenge themselves, the mode make it more difficult to find items, disables threats on the compass (except those added by a Recon scope), introduces a new Adrenaline perk and disables fast travel, manual-saving, quick-saving and most auto-saves.

In Survival mode, you’ll deal more damage but also take more damage which makes combat more dangerous and forces players to slow down and really think about whether or not they want to get into a particular fight.

These are just a few of the many changes that Survival mode introduces. The full rundown (well, mostly full, as Bethesda doesn’t want to spoil everything) can be found by clicking here.

The update also includes a host of stability and performance improvements as well as general bug fixes. What’s more, it preps the game for the next major DLC release, Far Harbor, which comes to consoles and the PC on May 19.

If you recall, update 1.5 for the PC also included support for mods, a feature that won’t make its way to the Xbox One until sometime this month and the PlayStation 4 in June.

Next time you post, maybe try it out first. I enabled this and it removed all of my previous saves. I can't disable this on my only save file now because it says if I do I can't turn it back on again. It caused me to become over encumbered and I will have a long long walk to get back in the water.

@Gokuhouse wait you turned it on on your main? *You* turned *survival* mode on your *main* and didn't think what they might do to your saves? *Survival* mode? Which clearly in the article says you can't save, quicksave etc.

Personal responsibility buddy. Sorry but considering the reputation of the mode, *you* didn't do your due diligence.

Also I'm reading the URL for this website and it clearly says "Techspot" not "Bethesda".

Also with Bethesda's reputation for corrupt saves etc, I'd strongly recommend backing up your saves and always keep saves going a long way back.

I had 70 or more save files. Why would all of them be deleted when I enable this? That doesn't make sense. I had saves at certain points in the story I wanted to return to and I'll have to start over now unless when I disable this it unhides my save filesfiles by chance. Changing a game mode on a single save doesn't usually mean delete all previous save files either. I also had no idea I was on techspot, thanks for the obvious ridiculous remark. I don't know what the world would do without helpful people like yourself. You are adding so much. Thank you! Keep up the good work and value add.
