In a nutshell: If you've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 for a spin, now is the time. From now through August 7, the action-adventure first-person shooter is completely free to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Stadia and on PC. The free weekend includes access to the full game as well as additional crossover missions featuring Danny Trejo, Rambo and Stranger Things.

Far Cry 6 arrived on October 7, 2021, following multiple delays related to the pandemic. Players battle enemy soldiers and wildlife in their attempt to topple dictator "El Presidente" Antón Castillo, who is portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad fame. The game received mixed reviews from critics, earning a score of 73 on Metacritic.

Far Cry 6 has been discounted before but this is the first time we are aware of that it has been completely free to try. Better yet, if you like it and want to purchase it after the free weekend ends, all of your progress will carry over.

Furthermore, Ubisoft is offering a substantial sale to go along with the promotion. For a limited time, you can score 60 percent off Far Cry 6. With the discount, you'll pay just $24 for the standard edition, $40 for the gold edition and $48 for the ultimate edition. The collector's edition with replica flame thrower isn't part of the promotion, unfortunately.

Discounts of up to 50 percent are also on deck for those interested in a Season Pass and earlier DLC, which allow you to play as villains from previous games including Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3, Pagan Min from Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5's Joseph "The Father" Seed.

Discounts vary by platform so you will want to check out Ubisoft's post for full details. There is also a photo mode content running through August 12 with the opportunity to win prizes including AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics cards, collector figurines, Corsair headsets and more.

Tried it out, starts out way more interesting than farcry5 and the gunplay was nice, will probably snag it after I play spideyman pc and saints row reboot...and beat ac odyssey.

Lol well I tried.

For some stupid reason ubisoft has my account set to the united states when I live in Canada.

When you try to link my epic account which is set to canada it fails because the Ubisoft account is set to the united states and they locked that setting down so I cannot even go into my account to change it. I had to submitted a ticket which will probably take 48 hours for a response for someone to basically change a text box on my account.

So this will most likely be completed after the weekend free trial.

gg thanks ubisoft 99% certain I won't buy this game now do this nonsense.

I played about a dozen hours or so and not surprisingly, it's the same Far Cry formula but slightly refined. Gunplay feels pretty solid, enemies are not complete bullet sponges like in FC New Dawn, a headshot is instakill, maybe two. So, if you like Far Cry games in general you will like this one as well, it's just not going to be anything crazy like Far Cry 3 was for it's time.

FC 2 was fun. FC 3 was more fun. FC 4 was FC 3. Now they are up to 6? Tired of pickin and skinin

FYI I know a lot of people don't like woke propaganda in games, well, this one is full of that, the worst offender or close to it.

Yep I noticed that as well after about 10 minutes of playing the game and it gets worse as you progress forward in the game. I still bought it anyway because I thought why not I own evry other version of the game got to have this one as well. yea my reasoning is not solid but I just ignore the woke stuff as much as I can and pretend it's just like any other Farcry game in the series. Hey at least they didn't go gender neutral for the charactors or at least I have not found any of that sort of thing in the game yet.

I also hear GTA 6 is gonna be pretty tame when compared to GTA V or any of the other GTA games in the series. I hope they don't go to woke in GTA 6 just to keep the Gen Z crowd happy.

Later in the story, you're literally helping some abomination pay for his transition surgery and you're fighting for their rights, it's not even a side mission. And a group of Fortnite dancing zoomer teenagers that kill everyone for no reason are your buddies that are supposed to overthrow a dictator. Every single leader of these groups is a woman, except for the bad guy, the dictator himself.

I tried it again, and again I came away with a deep 'meh' feeling. It's pretty, but that's about it.
