Ok... heres the deal

System Specs
GA-8I955X Royal
Pentium 4 640 Prescott 3.2 Ghz
Corsair DDRII 2GB ram
ATI Radeon 1600 Pro 512MB PCI-E

The problem is that the system bios will recognize my HD and my CD drive, but not allow me to install the OS.

the first problem I found was it would recongize the DVD-Rom, but not the HD
so I disconnected the slave drive, assigned the PATA HD as a master and set it on IDE2 CDrom was on IDE1 (gigabyte boards don't recognize optical drives on IDE2 or IDE3)

I boot the system bios recognizes the DVD
bios recognizes HDD

windows loader goes to "setup is checking your system configuration" then blank... instead of loading the blue windows configuration screens...
I remove the HDD and it loads right into the windows installer
I swap in another known working HDD. The system again boots to "setup is checking configuration, then goes blank...
I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point. I've checked and there are bios updates. I haven't yet gotten the chance to flash the bios to a newer version. I shot gigabyte techsupport an email to see if there was a way to correct this in bios or what was happening I still have not heard back yet, and the manual is no help what so ever. Anyone heard of or had similar issues and been able to resolve them??

help! lol
