Giving up on native rendering, Mafia: The Old Country system requirements are a love letter to upscaling

"This results in an internal resolution of just 1,114 x 626 pixels." That's ridiculous. That's essentially just below the 720p standard of 1280 x 720 pixels. In other words, 2000's level HD resolution. For context, I was playing Madden 2006 on an Xbox 360 that could do 720p/1080i resolution. Instead of moving us forward, graphics are visually receding to levels first seen 20 years ago despite over two decades worth of technological advancement.

That's below the resolution of Halo 3, which couldnt even render in native 720p. In 2007.

Absolute Incompetence.
I don't understand why we have a plague of games that aren't even playable these days. They aren't selling great and they can't even be passing play tests.
Because corpos got used to people buying slop. You see, the people who run corpos are actually rather dumb. it takes them a long time to notice what the average joe can figure out in 5 minutes. They lack any sort of common sense, instead ruling from their insulated ivory towers of business.

In the last 10 years we've seen media introduce and embrace safe spaces and bubbles. You can simply block and report anyone you dont like, so the creators mute most criticism that in the past would be blasted into their faces. This allows them to continually deny reality. Even losses are chalked up to the number machine not numbering enough, surely the NEXT serving of slop will succeed! They will chase this machine to inevitable buyouts and bailouts and eventual bankruptcy.

I mean look at Volition, they continually ignored what their fans wanted and shat on them constantly, put out 4 stinkers in a row, and if Nordic's saudi investment hadnt pulled out they'd still be getting funding to cover their legacy in vomit. There's just not enough negative consequences for this behavior, and consumers also take way too long to stop investing in trash.
