Graphics adapter DirectX 9.0c help

I was just playing the Sims 2 last night and it worked fine and everything. Then when I tried playing it today, it said the message about not having downloaded DirectX 9.0c, which I have downloaded. I want to know why this is happening and how I can fix this so I can play again.

Do an "Add and Remove" in the control panel to see if you can remove segments.

Otherwise, a simple registry editor such as Tweak Now, or RegCleaner by Juoni Viourno at www.majorgeeks.com can enable you to remove all aspects.
Then download again from www.microsoft.com, and install again. If that doesn't work, try again in SafeMode. Use the Distributable version, not the automatic install version... Save to a location you have determined, then install it from that location after a reboot.
