Warner Bros. Pictures back in December served up a first look at Blade Runner 2049, the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 cult classic. On Monday, fans of Ridley Scott’s neo-noir science fiction film were treated to a proper, full-length trailer.

The film certainly looks the part but then again, so did the recent Ghost in the Shell remake. That film, starring Scarlett Johansson as The Major, ultimately flopped at the box office and has a score of just 46 percent over on Rotten Tomatoes. With any luck, Blade Runner 2049 won’t suffer the same fate although creating a sequel to what is arguably the greatest sci-fi flick ever made is a tall order to say the least

Blade Runner 2049 lands in theaters on October 6, 2017.

Found is a TechSpot feature where we share clever, funny or otherwise interesting stuff from around the web.

Ghost in the Shell had too much going against it from the start. Disappointment in casting of the lead roll. The origin story seems to have departed from its anime roots, which doesn't sit well with me. And not that I needed to see nudity, but in the anime, she's more naked than not; not the detail-less cyborg body suit like the movie had. And for the love of god, she's "The Major", not just "Major". *Cringe*

Now this trailer, this looks familiar and yet new and fresh. Maybe it could be better, but as is, it looks good and worth seeing.

Having seen "Blade Runner" in the theaters, I am intrigued. However, IMO, this has a lot to live up to. Though Blade Runner has a much slower pace than audiences are used to these days, I suggest that anyone interested in this see either the theatrical release or the director's cut of the original "Blade Runner" (or both) to get some context. IMO, Blade Runner is among the sci-fi classics that will wear well and deserves a place among other classics like Forbidden Planet.

Ghost in the Shell had too much going against it from the start. A campaign by a bunch of snot nose SJWs caused disappointment in casting of the lead roll.
I fixed that for ya. Scarlett Johansson looks just fine in a nude body suit. I'm sure a porn studio will release a version with sufficient nudity for your taste.

Of course, even casting a porn version would require an actress with physical skills beyond laying on their back. I could recommend a few Asian actresses for the role. That should satisfy the clowns demanding "racial adherence in the lead role" as a requisite for the film being worth watching.

Looking forward to this film and I'm glad they haven't moved too far from the style of the original, even the music tips a nod to Vangelis.

Agreed, still isn't the worst Anime adaptation I've seen but there were key areas they needed to get right that they just didn't. It's a shame, as the movie oozes quite high production values, just a shame they couldn't quite capture the feel of the Anime, close but no cigar.

Well disappointed kidz, here is a woman who actually looks like living anime. Notice her big, big eyes, and her extremely triangular face.

Meet former race queen Midori Yamasaki:

This is an old photo. She's 35 now. I doubt she could take the same pounding as "Black Widow" could. nor provide the same box office draw as Miss Scarlett. But she is really, really Asian looking. So, all you whiny SJWs, shut your yaps, while you're filling your piggy banks, and the next time you want a movie company to humor your racist infantile demands, put your money where your mouths are, then finance the damned movie yourselves!

Because I like y'all, (for the most part), and you have to do at least two of anything to get off:

Those should be self explanatory...;)

It wouldn't take much more and TechSpot would be NSFW.
I know right? The shots of her I really wanted to link were blocked. It involved a black lace singlet with gold bra and hot pants. (About a 5" side seam). I use it as desktop background....! PM me if you want the link...:D

They are calling it a sequel me I would say a reboot given how long since the original came out. I just see desperate studios with no original ideas now making these movies because I'm sure they probably pitched a sequel way back. But I guess with how long movies have been made I guess whats old will be new again.
