Hi

The problem is that after booting up the system stalls for about 5 minutes and I cannot open start menu nor can I run any app on desktop by double clicking it. After about five m inutes it runs fine. I disabled most of the items in startup and also ran ADAware, Spybot S&D, AVG and Symantec scans many times , AVG did find some viruses but it did not help this problem.

My hijackthis log is attached.
Shall appreciate any help

Thanks

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Your system is infected with at least one trojan.

Go and read this thread HERE, then decide what it is you want to do.

If you decide, you want to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT and AVG Antispyware logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

I have scanned the system with TrojenHunter, tauscan, trojenremover, a-squared free, combofix and smitfraudfix.

Some of above softwares caught some trojens but the problem still persists, after booting up, a window tries to open just like a popup but disappears instantaly , after that i cannot click on the taskbar for about 5 minutes because moving cursor on it shows the pointer busy icon.

The new logs of hijackthis and AVG logs (AVG Vault list and AVG latest scan log) are attached .

Sorry for replying late, was busy at work

Shall appreciate any help

You did not post an AVG Antispyware log as requested. Instead you posted an AVG Antivirus log, which is not the same thing. Once you have completed these instructions go HERE and follow the instructions for downloading, installing and running AVG Antispyware. Post the AVG Antispyware log into your next reply as well as a fresh HJT log.

Download the Pocket Killbox programme from HERE. Extract it but don`t run it yet.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Delete all files in the AVG Virus vault.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {74552D9C-AF0A-5293-4F81-0613C505B75F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pxsgnej.dll

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT.

Run the killbox.exe file. When it loads type the full path to the file you would like to delete in the field and check the delete file on reboot button. press the Delete File button (looks like a red circle with a white X). It will prompt you to reboot, select no until you have finished inputting the files you want to delete, only then allow it to reboot and hopefully your files will now be deleted. If your computer doesn`t automatically restart, restart it manually.

This is the filepath you need to enter into killbox.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pxsgnej.dll

Once your system has rebooted and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log and an AVG Antispyware log. Let me know how your system is running.

I scanned the system in safe mode using AVG Antispyware, it found a couple of items shown in attached log. After that I used HJT to fix the
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {74552D9C-AF0A-5293-4F81-0613C505B75F} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pxsgnej.dll

It removed the entry.
Then I ran killbox to delete the above mentioned entry but it had already been deleted by HJT.

I also removed all items from AVG virus vault but the taskbar problem is still there :( . After booting , the taskbar becomes non responsive for about 5 minutes and then everything is fine. After that however the system runs very smoothly. But I cannot understand what is causing this problem.

Need assisstance

Thanks

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

Download Vundofix from HERE.

Double click the Vundofix.exe to run it.

Right click in the vundofix window and click add files.

Enter the full file path/s to the files you want Vundofix to delete and click the add files button, followed by the close window button. Click the remove vundo button and let Vundofix do it`s stuff.

This is the filepath you need to enter into Vundofix.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pxsgnej.dll

Post a fresh HJT log, after doing the above.

have removed mentioned file using vundofix , however problem is still there , taskbar still hangs at bootup for about 2 to 3 minutes.

fresh logs are attached.

Your HJT log is clean.

Delete all files in the AVG Virus vault.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Then, turn system restore back on. This will delete all your restore points and anything nasty that`s in them. It will also create a new and clean restore point.

Download combofix.exe. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts. A window will open with a warning. Type "Y" (and Enter) to start the fix. When the scan completes it will open a text window. Please attach that log back here together with a fresh HJT log. Caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop.
