Dear friends,

More than 3 years back my pc had a intel core i3 first generation processor in intel motherboard. Both the processor and motherboard had 3 years warranty. Unfortunately, the motherboard died out just after 2 years and I got a small refund from the distributor since that exact model of motherboard was unavailable. I looked for a compatible motherboard for the processor but to no avail. Then I was forced to buy the present processor and motherboard which I am still continuing to use for about 4 years without any major issues or hassle.

That time and present day, many no-name/non-brand motherboards were available which could be used to run the first generation intel core i3 processor but I could not trust the reliability of those motherboards. I read in few sites that generic motherboards might burn internal parts (I.e. hdd etc) and damage the processor.

Now I still have the first generation processor unused. Also the 3 year warranty of this present motherboard is over. In case the present motherboard dies out will it be safe and reliable to use the present processor in a no-name/non-brand motherboard? In my place there are no-name/non-brand motherboards like winbird, starex etc all made in china. It would be great if anyone having or not having any kind of experience or expertise with such motherboards would share their views and thoughts here.

Thanks in advance.

Need to look into buyer feedbacks for the mobo on store websites.
Check around other technical help forums to see what other people think.
If the brand has a consistent bad track record It's mostly best to leave it alone.
More legitimate bad reviews going against smaller positive reviews.is a clear indication of what its really like.

It would depend if the processor is compatible with the motherboard. Personally I only trust name brands but those name brands were new at one time and nobody had heard of them.

I never knew that no-brand motherboards were a thing? I mean, they have to be made by someone? Can you give us an example?

Alternative - buy a BIG name/ KNOWN brand used on eBay from a well established off-lease remarketer.
