Because of the tecnology involved, there is no reason to expect your password will work on anohter's computer

clip trick works fine on Latitude C810. Just follow the guide of Fastback68.

I tried it for more hours last night than I care to mention :(,.

When I short the 4/5, or 4/6, it tries to start then turns itself off before the loading screen finished,

When I short pins 3/6, it will show the load screen, loading bar, then after that the screen will flicker black, load screen will come up again for a brief second, curser left/top corner blinking, then the computer will shut off.

The chip I am shorting is under around where the X key is beside the cd drive, and has on it 24c02w6. And I am using the pin designation thats in my sig

How can I locate the Security Chip EEprom

I was hopeing someone might give me some clues to where, andwhat the eeprom, chip, or serurity chip, is located.

I wrote down all the numbers on all the 8 leg chips, and done some research on each one, did not come up with anything thing saying any of them was a security chip/eeprom.

So Im wandering is there another chip, bigger one, ect.

So I might try to read the chip short it or somthing.

If someone is willing to help. I'll tear donw the laptop and take some photos of both sides the board.

Toshiba Satellite A55-S1063

And I have bigger files more resulution but cant upload them. I can e-mail them if you wish to take a closer look. email me @ email removed

Thanks

Dell boot password

First I want to say thanks to all who provide their knowledge freely. I recently purchased 2 laptops. Both are password protected at boot. Both have service codes ending in 595B. I have spent the past few days looking thru all the posts here. I have tried to find the chip described in the paperclip method. But it would seem that my laptop uses a different chip. Can anyone help me with a location of the correct chip to short for my models?

Latitude D830
Latitude D510

on these models, there's no chip to "short". password is stored in KBC controller. and there's only master password way to unlock the unit.

outback_2008 this toshiba laptop can be unlocked only using special PCMCIA-controller with LPT wraparound. the problem is that this is simple PCMCIA-to-LPT controller but with some special features. and i haven't made this device yet :(

Dell bios/boot password

So nobody has a solution for the D830, except getting a master password? Correct? Thanks to Champ, for sending me the full version of paper clip method. Now I have a picture with location of the chip on the D510. I should be able to get it working. I would appreciate anyone else's input as what my options are for the D830. If I do find a solution to this, I will make sure to post here for all to use.

Thanks for the help

Help remove password from Dell Inspiron 6400 BIOS

I have this dell inspiron 6400 I bought off ebay and don't have the owners contact info original to the unit so therefore dell refuses to help remove the bios password and now I'm out a bundle of cash for this thing.

Could someone pm me the master password for this thing please.
Service Tag: CYKFBC1-595B

Thanks.

P.S.
If there's a eeprom chip to short out I have the skills to do that as well if I can be told where the chip is located and the numbers on top of the chip along with exactly what pins to short.

All you have to do is go to the Dell site and register the computer (If it has a Service Tag and/or Express Service Code). You just list the previous owner as unknown, or confidential. Then wait 21 - 30 days to get the new registration processed through the Dell system.

If you do not have a Service Tag or an invoice, you can still provide other evidence that you purchased this computer... along with posting the internal code that comes up when you press <F12>, or the BIOS, or the serial numbers off the motherboard, power supply, and other components.

We have done this many times for our clients, with good results. It just takes longer.

If it still has the old Windows on the hard drive, you can recover info with the software Belarc Advisor or Everest...

In fact, you probably can recover most useful information with any install, by using Belarc Advisor, although I have not tried that recently... worth a try, as Belarc and Everest pick up a lot of the hardware information.

Ok I was able to get passed the bios pass problem but now I'm having issues and it's asking for a hdd password.

well I called into dell and explained my situation and got the password to unlock the drive so all is fixed and working better now.
