HP / Dell / etc. Laptop password help (April - July 2008)

If you are the original owner, or if the Inspiron 9300 is now registered to you, Dell will fix it for a small price of about $36 plus shipping. And it will work afterwards. Some methods used by some on this forum make it impossible to ever password again, and sometimes render it unusable.
Talk to Dell Tech Support on the phone... as for a US Based tech support person if you are in the US. You can actually download your old invoice online from Dell Support.

Dell password d620 comment

please can you send me your tag numbers and master password
to see if we can programming a générator
thanks

It's a good idea, but the concern is users providing their tag
With this information, you can find out certain things from the user:
Where and when it was bought, and within Dell, who bought it.

The Dell password thread has a lot of entries though, so you should look there (in this same forum)

I believe pulling the CMOS battery is one option

Info:

1) power on password (pop). this password can be reset by unplugging the cmos battery for a while, and plugging it back in.
2) supervisor/bios password (svp). this requires reading the eeprom chip (8 leg or 14 leg) with an electronic device by using another pc's serial port. (p.m. me on this one).
3) hard drive password (hdp). this is usually tied to svp, but not all the time. it requires special software and a library of known manufacturer's password. but can be cracked either recovering the data or wiping the data.

Dell x300

I've tried lots of different things, to no avail. I'm needing help with, obviously, a dell x300 I get a code of 06235 and need a master password.
Thanks

Dell x300

I've contacted dell twice, and they can't seem to help me. They say, the only way to fix it is to replace the motherboard. I don't get the long service ID that they use to generate the password. I only get the system disabled code, which is that 5 digit code given in my first post

right, but I'm not going to pay just to unlock my bios. Its just more of a convenience factor now. I'm looking for a free solution, just to be able to get around in there. Dell typically doesn't have that many open features in their bios anyway

hi

can you tell me where is the eeprom and how can i read it. i alredy has the ibm t61 reader. i think is the same for D620. can you send me picture to do that.

can you send this to removed email that ca
thanks a lot

Hello,

i have a 3 Years old HP NX7010 notebook. Some time ago my son put a whole bottle of water in it :(. After drying the notebook, it asks for a (Administrator Password) even if i would get into the bios. The notebook dont boot up - just asks for the PW.
I tryd to reset the cmos (Unplugged AC, Battery, Backup Battery - wait some minutes (3 Hours), plug AC, but the notebook wants a password.
I have never entered some Passwords in the Bios.
HP means i must change the Mainboard.

Is there any solution to remove the password ? i dont know if the notebook is fully functional.

recently had a breakup and as a personal vendetta they placed a password on my hdd. now when the machine boots i get "Invalid configuration information - please run SETUP program". Then i get a grey screen that says i need a password to access the drive. I F2 and F12 and F8 and they get bypassed, bios seem to be disabled. i tried everything i have searched including remove cell battery. my dell d620 was purchased used from a local repair shop. they cannot help me with this issue. dell will not help as i am not the original registered owner.
was trying to locate a master hard drive password for this model.
ive looked around and found that rustam_ or predator25 may be able to help.

so, RUSTAM_ or PREDATOR25 if your around is there any way you can help me out with this?

the grey screen only gives me this info
Svc Tag B7JT0F1 followed by -595b
EST# 24401135197
if you need anything else please let me know

BIOS - and I did read the above

I read through the above about forgotten bios pw, however, the master pw is not working for me.

I have a Dell Latitude 610:
the system# is 2vm2L81-595b

I did enter 2vm2L - and received the code, but it did not unlock it.

I haven't used this laptop in about a year and have totally forgotten the login.

Any help would be most appreciated.

email removed

thanks

Good post glenreez
I just like to add that there are a number of alternate websites to try (as Obi pointed out)

But your first option would be here (through reading all these posts) then Dell

Not true, you just need to re-register as the new owner

This has been covered in this thread over and over many times
Please read previous posts, unless you want to pay double the cost.

Reveal Windows Passwords

I have a Dell 1721 Laptop that I cannot remember login password. Need help to erase or identify password to login. It has the Vista Home software

Research a utility called Ophcrack. I've successfully used it on an Dell XPS M1530 and it revealed the Vista Ultimate password in 3 minutes 18 seconds. It doesn't crack or bypass the password; it just tells you what the passwords are.

Paperclip procedure works fine for Inspiron 8000 and Latitude D610

Ophcrack works well... particularly the ISO versions... But turn off ALL firewalls and security... All of it... A bit easier if you are very familiar with how computers are built and software is setup. I recommend WXPP over WXPH for this job on WXP
Note also that there are very different versions for WXP and VISTA... do not confuse them.
