HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

omnibook 900 bios hashcode

Hello, I purchased this older HP omnibook 900b laptop from a corp auction getting rid of thier older machines, it was used to run some CNC machine and I wanted it primarily just to use in my garage to hold small schematic files of my NITRO RC trucks and cars.

It boots to win2k pro, and runs pretty well, but I would like to format it and install win 98se on this machine, it has alot of miscelanious programs and stuff left over from the company I got it from.

My problem is I cannot get into bois to change settings as it has a bios password, if I hit F12 it gives me a hash code of [ 00220]

I looked through the forums about this and didnt see my hash code listed in responced as of yet......I was hoping someone had come across this one already.

the system model is F1980nt

Whenever I turn on my laptop, I get gray screen.

Dear All,
I've Dell Latitude X1 laptop, unfortunately it become system bios protected. i can
t go to the setup and can't go to the window.
please help me,

use DST boot software. If you are not able to boot from anything, use paperclip procedure. It works fine on Latitude X1 and Inspiron 1300.

for hash [00220] password: 1153124

I do wish that I too had the program or the idea of what type of hash coding this is, so I could help people as well, I thank you greatly for your promt and accurate answer to my plea. I have been investigating this "hash" code thing for along time, I could not bring myself to pay HP for the service that costed almost double what I gave for the machine to begin with, again thank you.

Forgot password for inspiron 6400

I'm an IT tech at my job trying to help one of our female co-workers who brought in a Dell D600 notebook to me to repair. I thought it was just a virus thing but it's a BIOS protection message when you turn it on. I'm not sure if I need to do the paperclip thing or if there's a master password I can enter. Anyhow here's the info I got from the bottom of her machine. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

shure, there is a master password, but people sell it for about 75$

Paperclip procedure works fine and free on Latitude D600.

Well I found that program on this forum that creates a master password for your machine but I guess it doesn't work for the D600 since it asks for 5 characters and the laptop has 7. Is there a website or does some have a picture or can inform me where this chip is located on the D600, what the number of the chip is what 2 pins do I need to short.

I wish I can use the software provided on that other site but I can't boot to anything since the dreaded white screen of death pops up.

If I get it working I'm going to make sure I take a photo of it and share it with the community and maybe the mods can sticky it.

Thanks again.

need password removed

Hi guys, my Inspirion 1720 is out of warranty and someone (might be my kid) set password that prevents me from starting up the computer.

The error message I get is "This computer system, #JYM97G1-595B, is protected by a password authentication system. You cannot access...Please type in the system or administrator password..."

I've tried to disconnect the hdd and CMOS battery - did not help. Dell would not help for free.

Please, if anyone can generate and post the master password I would greatly appreciate it.

is Dell give you that wrong code? This code looked very strange. May be you fabricate it.

dont think a KID can put a password and retype it again!!! anyway did u asked DELL support?

Thank you Rik for the reply. I have no idea where and how to set the password I can only assume that it is done in BIOS.

I tried Dell, since the computer is out of warranty Dell is asking for >$200 to reset the password. That is extremely expensive considering that to be 1/3 of the cost of the laptop. That is why I am asking if someone could generate the master password to unlock the laptop (once again - Inspirion 1720 - the tag #JYM97G1-595B). Thank you in advance.
