HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

Solicitations

Hi Kimsland,

The two solicitations I received were from samyloo and biosservices@... both of which I believe you have already banned. I would link for you, but they are no longer in my Private messages, perhaps they were automatically deleted when the users were banned.

I hope this helps.

Latitude D810

I am trying to short the chip on my Latitude D810. it is located under the module that the screen plugs into. Should I try shorting without a screen connected? or is there another trick?

I have in my hands a Toshiba Satellite laptop (ugh...) that a friend of mine is having a problem with. When she turned it on one day it suddenly asks for a BIOS Password. I took the laptop to see what I could do and I searched the net for any suggestions. supposidley there are backdoor passwords for this kind of situation. Unfortionetly, non of them work. Now I'm stumpted. My friend doesn't want to send it to Toshiba or have Geek Squad look at it for $200.
Does anyone know of any other way to reset a bios password. It asks for the password when I boot the computer and when I try to go into the Bios menu. It won't even let me use a disk to reboot the computer.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2266
Phoenix BIOS Setup Utility

Thanks!

Soldering wires to a chip is not for novice solderers... get a highly experienced professional who has practiced on similar chips regardless of experience.

I've heard that many users have just held the wires (paperclip) on the pins
Ideally, we want this thread and members to resolve the matter freely (especially on this thread!)

We have yet to see one done successfully on a Dell D620... nor anybody who will describe what they did, while also giving the Service Tag digits. We have seen a few machines where the shorting trick was applied, but didn't work... so waiting for a verifiable fix with a photograph...
If they exist, they are few and far between, as the D620 and D630 are difficult nuts to crack.

Shorted chip without monitor and i am into bios but cant change anything without password

I can now get into and edit bios. Now there is a hard drive password

Forget the hard drive... cheap as they are these days, it is easier and cheaper to replace if your time is worth anything.

I agree w raybay, I got tired of waiting for someone to help me regarding the hdd lock I have, so I just ordered 4 hard drives from geeks.com for 29.95 each.

These are 60gb,5400rpm 2.5" IDE drives, for 29.95, just use code JANHD at checkout.

Apparently its a money game when it comes to unlocking drives, so I decided Im better off giving my money and getting a new drive!!! just my opinion

have already posted but have been bannato!!!!
The last member to be banned for this was over 2 days ago
I suspect (highly suspect) that there are others

As this "private sales" area continues, this thread will always be difficult to support freely
I call on all members who have been approached by PM to state the TechSpot members name, and exactly what was mentioned in PM. By doing so, you will help many more members in the future, and keep TechSpot free, as intended

i wouldnt be surprised if any of those scum tried to pm me but soo far none have attempted other than in a post that ive seen but with my luck that may be my only option for my dell inspiron 1525 since it requires the 595b generator and those with the info arent forthcomming and would rather plunder theyre black hearts out with it

dell bios master password 595b

New to this forum but pretty much read all the posts and see that in my case its pretty hopeless being the fact that i have a D620 to find a solution for a masterpassword so i decided that my obsesion with looking must come to the end in bitter defeat the only thing now is can anyone confirm which services offered on ebay are genuine and work as i would be pretty p*****ed to get ripped off. thanx in advance

There are no genuine services, other than the manufacture
As for coming here to ask for such services, try the millions of webpages all over Google

TechSpot is free
We provide free support options, like the paperlip method; dst cd; small free programs; loads of excellent advise; so forth...

If none of these options work (comprehensively discussed in this thread, and older threads on this topic) then go elsewhere, ie Google.

We also help with the manufacture (although in some cases this is not free ie The exact price at Dell is $49) This can be quoted, as it's coming from the manufacture

Therefore help me (and many others) rid TechSpot of this money making PM issue (even if you have now got your laptop unlocked)

Help us, as we have helped you, originally on the forum
