HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

I have the full paperclip method pdf file, but I don't know how to attach it on this post.
I just shorted my D800 & after several attempts I got it. I had to short the last 2 pins ( #4-5)
the guide calls for shorting pins (#3-6)
You can try this link to password generator, w"".download.centre4service.com/spunlock.html
Don't know if it works, but might want to try it out.

Dell 1501 password

Hi all

i have dell 1501 which ask for password.
I checked many posts in that forum and found the EEPROM short method not working with this model as it has no 2402 chip.

i think the only way by generating master passord.
i saw in all posts, all guys talk about getting the service tag from the boot screen.
but i can't see anything in boot screen about service tag.
only on the sticker written:
service tag CSV4P2J
express service tag : 278-667-281-71
nothing written about 595B or any other.

Please how can i clear pass from this machine.

best regards
MAK

If you are the original owner, contact Dell. They will fix it for a price.
If not the original owner, register yourself as owner, then await the change for 60 days, then contact Dell for repair.
Most users do not have success when the methods described int TechSpot are used, although a few do.
Then if you want more help here, search this forum for Dell password, and move your inquiry there.

Dell Precision M90

Hi everyone:
My dell precision M90 is locked in Bios. I paid $65 and they still work on a solution. They emailed the master password which is 5650pdyg. For a reason, when I enter the master password, my laptop shutdowns automatically and my bios password is till locked. my service tag on screen is 1BGHZC1-595B. I hope someone here to help me to give a working master password.

Will give it a try tomorrow and let you know what happens

Biosrep that's basically the same disc as the DSTCD
Problem with using that is the hdd is locked too ( same code ) and the system is set to boot from the HDD first. I have disconnected the HDD to try those CD's but with no luck. Don't worry about the HDD password as I have an IDE adapter for a laptop HDD coming tomorrow that I'm going to use to clear that out from my desktop system

junkyard salvaged 1525

well go figure i think ive been taken by a less than honarable ebayer in an attempt to repair a dell inspiron 1525 that i bought under the assumption the mainboard was worth using for a repair in my own but alas after reassembly poof grey screen of death wants a password which the sellor refuses to give due to either not knowing or not wanting to give it away i have since given up on the sellor and are turning my last hopes here sorry im longwinded too lol but maybe someone out there has a master for this service tag 15x1pf1-595B ive had many years of pc repair experience and ya gotta love these dells lol ive looked everywhere i could over the last few days and this is suposedly top secret dell encryption to prevent thiefs and anyone who would attempt to repair a dell computer and not pay dells insane service fees which dont apply to those who are without warranty thanks for your time and for bareing with my rambling post

What an amazing thread!

I have a Dell Latitude E4200 and at first implemented a bios system pw, then later implemented a HDD pw through Dell's control point software. Both pw's were supposed to be the same. But I couldnt get the HDD pw to work! I think if I had a Bios Admin pw set before I set either the Bios System pw and the HDD pw-- I would of been fine. But because they were set already, the bios wouldnt let me change that. Anyhow... I knew I shouldn't of mess around with the biometrics/pw's. I've had probs in the past with a dell laptop on that.

I read through this entire thing... Took hours. That was after I called Dell Tech and was told I'd have to reformat and lose everything. Ha! Realized that I prob needed more than just a bios hack/whack job. Found the info about master pw's very interesting. I decided to try Dell support again. This time I used the Chat support.

Tech support is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're going to get, and it's only as good as the tech on the other end. And if you do get a good one, (who has a brain and can think outside the canned scripted rhetoric) consider yourself lucky, because they don't last long there (phone support). They move on to bigger and better things.

After a few short minutes, I was provided with the master pw (which I am keeping for later reference) and was able to unlock/reset all pw's.

It didn't cost me anything, but I do have a current service contract. Now I can get some sleep!

P.S. Nice forum. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for sharing NouveauVision
I believe contacting Dell would always be the best first option (inside or even outside warranty)
Actually they even have a once off warranty cost to remove passwords, at under $50 (at Dell) if you are outside warranty

Here's all that "chat" info and stacks more ;) https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100658.html
