got one here as a salvage had a hd password which also locked the bios i ended up repairing the broken hd connector and leaving it unpowered for about a week and i low level formatted the hd which sometimes can get you past the hd password in other cases you can flash the firmware of the hard drives depending on the security hope that helps someone out there my hp 6710b is runnin great since then

Toshiba Passwords
So about 3 months ago I was on my Toshiba Satellite 215 - S7422. And it crashes, instead of a black screen when i turn it back on i get an "enter password" notification. the background is all black and the password pop up is blue. HELP!!! Its password was reset by the crash..

ray beat me too the punch ... Contacting dell and getting it fixed is your best bet IMO unless u want to do some hard searching in forums.

Hi Guys,
I don't wish to repeat or double post, but I left the following note last week and have heard no responses. I am still hopefull for some help and would greatly appreciate someone's assistance. Essentially I'm still looking for a bios password form my D630.

Don't know of anybody who has had a fix, although three people on this forum have claimed so over the time it has been out.
Reportedly the Latitude D630 is about impossible to repair... even Dell won't fix it, but they will put in a new motherboard.

Thanks for responding. As I read through this thread, it appeared that occasionally a bios password has been given out by people who have the algorithm/program. I didn't know if people rarely get bios passwords or if they were getting personal e-mails. I was hoping it was the latter.
Are you telling me that the only path is to pay the E-Bay people or some of the people who should not solicit here but in fact are doing just that?
Dell definitely will not help, so I'm not sure what to do next. Any advice would be appreciated.

No. Anything is worth a shot. We have seen three of these in our shops... and there is speculation that there is a hardware or electronic error that causes the problem of a created password.
I just don't know of a fix... But maybe some of the people on eBay have figgered it out... Or maybe they solder on a new EEPROM chip to get rid of the problem.
If you try it, and get a fix, that would be very helpful to a lot of members and visitors to this forum.

from what ive looked they charge around 75 on ebay to generate a password no guarentees there tho they say they guarentee it to work but how can they not stiff ya and its way too steep for my tastes especially for around 10-20 minutes of work but jackals are abundant just like oil companies lol

I agree, on E-Bay, they say they can generate the password and as you said, the cost is $75, but $75 bucks is a big risk.
Also, I've had two solicitations here (against the rules of this forum) for ~$45, but who knows if that would not be money thrown away as well. If I knew that this would work, I'd pay the $45, but who knows.
I keep hoping that someone here will contribute where they can in the spirit of the rules of this forum. (free help) There are a lot of nice people out there who want to help and maybe one will respond.

yeah if they are willing to break the tos of this forum makes ya wonder what other un ethical practices they are fond of doing lol and scams they will pull and whats to stop them from just pullin a fake code outta nowhere and selling it

I have also recieved a PM from samyloo with the link for the ~$45 site. I see that he is now banned :grinthumb. On the other hand, i see many new users giving out passwords; some of them working, some of them not working. Where were those users a few weeks ago? Is this another method to raise enough posts to PM members with spam, advertising pay sites? Maybe, maybe not... .

from what ive read over the last week on the 1525 the short method will not work on the 1525 it has a newer tamper resistant eeprom and doesnt clear stored data by shorting and must be cleared by a backdoor master password generated by dell's 595b service tag generator

Toshiba Satellite BIOS Password
I have in my hands a Toshiba Satellite laptop (ugh...) that a friend of mine is having a problem with. When she turned it on one day it suddenly asks for a BIOS Password. I took the laptop to see what I could do and I searched the net for any suggestions. supposidley there are backdoor passwords for this kind of situation. Unfortionetly, non of them work. Now I'm stumpted. My friend doesn't want to send it to Toshiba or have Geek Squad look at it for $200.
Does anyone know of any other way to reset a bios password. It asks for the password when I boot the computer and when I try to go into the Bios menu. It won't even let me use a disk to reboot the computer.
