I saw DLSS 5 running across multiple games. It's not a face filter.

And many of those human species hunted other humans, a time-saving shortcut to finding meat. Only about 57% survived even to age 15.
You have forgot to mention average lifespan of 25 years.
Live fast, party hard, die young.

They also had essentially no possessions, no medical or dental care; housing was a cold dank cave without furniture or lighting, and the usual night's entertainment ...
Spending 8-12-16 hours at work (plus 1~2 traveling there and back) sounds soo entertaining.
Many of those who had to take 2 jobs to pay bills have little to no time for entertainment and are glad to fell into bed and sleep for 6 hours (8 if lucky).
Many can not afford dentist and any accident or serious illness means bankruptcy.

Welcome to bright new future.

This article is a great example of "a picture is worth a thousand words". All the words in this article sound like they might be reasonable but none of them rebut the initial impression from the demo screenshots: the "after" image does not sufficiently resemble the "before" image in material ways. And while it's nice that there's an intensity slider for developers, if it's the same AI model for every game with the only option being intensity, what that tells me is every character and scene is going to be converged to the model's vs. the artist's art style & direction.

They had undeclared business interests with Amd and others. Even the perception of a conflict of interest should be recognised and declared. TBH thats why Shrout popping up to defend Nvidia raises hackles for those of us who remember his past behaviour and value journalistic integrity even in the tech space. Clearly you do not.
Give me an example of a review of an intel product that was praised due to those conflict interests. Ill be waiting

That’s not photorealistic at all. What’s wrong with the eyes of anyone who says it is?

This is a disaster as far as analysis and journalism go, he even managed to spin the fact that it needed 2 x 5090s into something positive, lol lol
It doesn't need 2 5090s. Stop with the nonsense.

I'm using a 4090 to play minecraft right now cause that's the fastest GPU I have available, doesn't mean minecraft needs a 4090. The same way, nvidias tech demo used a 5090 to run FIFA. You think FIFA needs a 5090 to run? Jesus christ, nvidia haters have lost touch with reality.

as a programmer with a lot of experience in the marketas just a tool, it will still replace you or your collage [sic] friends. it's unavoidable.
Nonsense. Those willing to adapt to the new technology will find themselves empowered by it, and producing far more than they could without it.

...unless new regulations are implemented, the job market will continue to shrink.
While you're at it, please ban the Internet and computer, the horseless carriage, and electric pumps, machinery, and household lighting for eliminating innumerable jobs.

You've been reading far too many Charles Dickens novels ... or rather, given your generation, seeing too many Dickens adaptations on Netflix. Average work hours are now at the lowest level in history, with workers in places like Germany working less than 4 hours per day (counting weekends and vacation time):

Oh, and in this modern age, bankruptcy means you still eat three meals a day, still have clothing and housing. The "homeless" you see are drug addicts, by and large. And if you don't find your job interesting, I suggest finding a better, more fulfilling career.

Nomnative determinism in action, here!
I do not need to point to an actual example, the perception of a conflict of interest is enough in of itself. You seem not to value journalistic integrity and how damaging even the perception of a conflict of interest is in reportage. Readers of Pcper, such as myself, abandoned the site when this all came to light in 2018. It killed Pcper in the end, it never recovered.

Nonsense. Those willing to adapt to the new technology will find themselves empowered by it, and producing far more than they could without it.
Those clamoring to use these AI filters completely changing the art direction because it's Nvidia, Jensen will be handing piles of money to game companies and it'll no longer be an option. This is a very slippery slope of a company being allowed to influence how games are being designed, developers will eventually be replaced by LLM's producing games, or more like slop vaguely resembling games.
While you're at it, please ban the Internet and computer, the horseless carriage, and electric pumps, machinery, and household lighting for eliminating innumerable jobs.
Without regulations, computers for the average person will cease to exist, except for the powerful wealthy. You'll get a subscription based cloud terminal and like it.

Tell me you've never been poor without really telling me you've never been poor.
Those on the edge of bankruptcy are working 2 jobs to eat twice a day and pay rent on housing they'll never own, and a car that will fall apart by the time the loan is paid off.

All of those technological advances created new types of jobs to replace those no longer required. The 'generative probability engine' 'revolution show little signs of following that pattern. I guess visual artists could get employment in checking the work of so called 'AI', we will need armies of them what with the amount of mistakes these engines make!

Given my age and history ... the first.

Average work hours are now at the lowest level in history,
Averages are nice.
I ate 1 whole chicken for lunch. You had nothing. In average we had nice meal.

And if you don't find your job interesting, I suggest finding a better, more fulfilling career.
I am retired.
Can do what my health condition allows me.
Hard to find less restricting job.
PS: I do some volunteering to not become too bored.

LOL, who told you something so absurdly nonsensical? There are no regulations requiring companies to produce standalone PCs, and yet they do. The free market creates whatever people demand.

I grew up in a Soviet Republic, when Khrushchev ruled with an iron hand. I know poverty more than you can ever imagine, in a four room apartment shared by three different families, and the thought of owning a car was a flight of wildest fancy. You're welcome to cry all you want about having to work hard to pay your rent and car payment ... but once you start bloviating for Soviet "diktat" style government interventionism, I draw the line.

Only because you're not paying attention. See many job listings for prompt engineers, machine-learning specialists, or automation technicians in the 1990s, did you?

Yes, of course you do. From your very first post in this thread you are trying to convince me (and everyone else reading) that his opinion shouldn't be taken seriously cause its' colored by whoever he is sponsored by. So I'm asking for an example of that, which doesn't exist. But again, I really don't expect anything more from amd fans. It's a waste of bandwidth.

Rumor circling around those internets says ... the model for Neural Rendering used 22GB VRAM.
Considering it uses NVFP4, there is no other GPU you can fit it in (at this time).

rtx 4090 has 24GB. But it does not have FP4, only FP8. rtx 4090 may or may not have enough power to do the math in FP8, but Converting model into FP8 make it too big to fit into VRAM.
If it was only about VRAM size, they could use rtx 6000 Blackwell. They did not. It may or may not suggest that more compute power was needed too.

TL;DR .. to run the demo at current state of technology you need at least one rtx 5090 and at least one another card of rtx 50xx series.

Using two rtx 5090 was the safe bet.

Jesus christ, nvidia haters have lost touch with reality.
I may have lost touch of reality.
But in my books ... 2 + 2 = 4 (± 5%)

Go outside and touch some grass.

Detected a strong Force Faith here.

Take a look at the last article about Intels CPUs release.
It is not only colored by whoever it is sponsored by, its Copy & Paste of Intels PR (with some comments from autor).

A single apprenticeship level 'AI' job advertised on my regions biggest employment site. Meanwhile HSBC toying with 20,000 job cuts, reported in the last 24 hrs. Hopefully you are correct, the signs are not good, where I live, where thanks to successive governments our economy is hyper dependent on the services and financial sector where many of the job losses are happening, right now. We have a youth unemployment crisis, combined with a demographic time bomb. Sure its our own fault, the people voted to blow up our economy with the biggest act of economic selfharm a population has ever chosen in 2016. So dont accuse me of not paying attention.

Im not trying to convince anyone of anything, a pointless task generally, let alone online. People are free to believe whatever they want.
This is an opinion article after all, Im just stating my opinion of the author.
As an aside, being a fan of any corporation is such a ridiculous thing to be, it really is.
Winding you up has been a lot of fun. But the suns out, the birds are singing, better things to do.

So, is this article paid? You can put as many words on it but we see what this is and many comments pointed it out. For me the credability of this site is going under.

Then you either live in a small village, or you're not performing the search correctly. Just because it doesn't have "AI" in the title doesn't mean it isn't an AI-supported job.

You're also forgetting to account for the expansion in industries due to AI-enhanced productivity. To take an corollary from a few decades ago, word processors eliminated nearly all the typist, typesetter, proofreader, and editor jobs ... but by making professional writing so much easier and cheaper, ballooned the industry. We now have more than 20X as many writers employed in some manner as we did 50 years ago.

Instead of implying deception and fraud, why not try the tech yourself? Seriously, at this point, anyone who already can't see that AI content generation is the future of video gaming should probably be surgically sterilized to avoid passing on defective genes. In just 40 years, we went from computer games being 95% coding, 5% content generation, to today's 2% coding, 98% content generation ... and worsening fast.

You made 4 posts within a day about the authors credibility (without showing any evidence btw, even when asked) and you are "not trying to convince anyone". Bro, come on now.

The coffee maker was mentioned multiple times but there was no picture of it in the article.

For once I can actually see a difference between the before and after images but it would be nice if they were alongside each other rather than separated by a paragraph.

I still prefer games that are interesting and fun over those that are photo realistic though.
