We have been seeing a number of Dell Inspiron low end laptops built in 2006 and early 2007 presenting with a half-inch wide vertical white bar on the right side of the screen about 2 inches right of center. It is clearly a major defect which may require repair of lcd, inverter or other.
The rest of the screen is bright, clean, and easily readable. No color interference, fuzz, or the usual rainbow of defects.
We are seeing it on seldom used Inspirons as well as heavily used ones.
Dell is not helpful, except "send it in" for repair as it is no longer covered by the one year warranty.
We are wondering how widely spread this problem may be, or what you may have done to remedy the problem, short of replacing the screen. It actually appears that something has shaken loose inside
