installing .iso files from a cd

i'm trying to install vista from a .iso i burnt to cd

when i inserted the disc into one computer, the install window opened automatically.

in another computer nothing hapened and i cannot get the install to go.

do i need a program to read the .iso and bring up the install window or ??

No you dont need a program, its possible the DVD drive on the other machine is a bit flaky, try replacing it and see if it works, just because it shows up in explorer doesnt mean it can read disks properly.

An ISO file is just an image of a CD or DVD.
 
Could it be that the second computer just doesn't have autorun enabled?

Open up the autorun.inf file and see what it is set to execute.
