I am using an Intel DG43RK motherboard onboard graphics connected via HDMI to a Sony KDF-55XS955 HD TV. When activating the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel, the recommended resolution is 1920X1080. At this resolution the desktop is too large for the screen. I lose the entire taskbar, the top 3 toolbars and both sides. I have tried changing the display modes on the TV to no avail. I've tried changing the scaling in the graphics control center, When I change the scaling nothing happens even though I hit the "apply" button and confirm the change. To get a useable desktop, I need to drop the resolution to 1600X900 to get a useable desktop. That res leaves about a 2" border around the desktop, which isn't the end of the world, but it leaves the screen a little blurry. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what I am missing?

According to the specs on Crutchfield it appears that your Sony KDF-55XS955 has a native resolution of 1386 x 788 and can support 1080i, 720p, 480p, and 480i ... could find no reference for 1080p. If you can set your resolution to 1386x788 that might do the trick, if not try trying going to 1280x720 which might scale better than 1600x900.
