Intel vs amd?

new article on tomshardware. Apparently there's nothing much AMD is coming out to "counter" the Conroe invasion. SLI-memory seems to be the only option, but as of the moment, memory bandwidth tests at toms seems bleak.

Need some head on comparisons before we make our conclusions, so stay tuned!

Hexus has the head on, Conroe will be king. Intel is holding back on the clocks and have more if AMD puts up much of a fight. K8L is really the only hope AMD has, it comes in H107. By then Kentsfield(core quad) and a 1333 FSB XE will be out.

AMD is a dead company then I assume? :p

I suppose AMD might be backed into the office computer category (not that its completely bad for them of course). Its energy efficiency is a huge plus in an environment where processor speeds don't matter so much.

Either way, I think there's still a future in AMD in the enthusiast computing category. Its main problems so far is shifting to DDR2, which should be expected. Intel has been using DDR2 for 2 years, no wonder the memory bandwidth tests are bleak.

I'll just wait for everything to settle down (including the price).

No AMD is going to be fine. They still have four socket severs in the the bag and that's good money. Then there are so many gamers that love AMD and just plain hate Intel that will still be buying. Thier price must come down, if it gets low enough my DualSATA2 my get a AM2 X2(more likely a used 939 X2 off ebay :haha: .) AMD is just going in the red I think. 2008 is going to be fun, Intel is going CSI. It's something like AMD's HT.

Either way, the arrow is pointing towards Intel beating the crappers out of AMD in terms of performance. Not saying it'll definately be better, but its very suggestive.

However, knowing the way these companies work, we probably won't get the Conroes for cheap, we'd still have to pay for the computing power. I want to see the overclocking potential :D

There ya go, Intel's gonna have AMD for brekky.

Anyway, thats expected prices, personally I expect the prices to be a little higher than that when its released. Just business tactics: why sell for less when you can get more? Thats alot more computing power for alot less, doesn't make good business sense at all.

Intel's 65nm give them a good advantage, they will be selling allot of them, and that law suite form AMD about unfair competition--well now they are going to get some "fair" compitition. :haha:

Wrong, they all are capable of over 4ghz. It just will have a lower bus speed to do it.

Sorry that's what I had ment. (I didn't realized that someone would correct me.)
