Intel's latest ad campaign mocks M1-powered MacBooks

No, Apple has already decided they were dropping Intel.

I think Intel's hope here was to try and convince people that Apple doesn't have their best interests at heart and that people should be getting an Intel chip in a comparable/better laptop.

Sad thing is, folks that buy Apple buy them because they don't know any better or firmly believe Apple iOS can only provide them with what they need and that no other device and/or OS can.
I agree, but from my viewpoint, it is blatantly obvious that Intel only has their best interests in mind - especially given the constant milking they have done over the years.

Don't you worry. This ad campaign will come back to haunt Intel sooner or later.

So far all mocking ad campaigns (whoever did them) always come and hit back with a vengeance.

Intel is surely sore because it cannot sell 1000$ monitor stands. :D

Monopoly is over Chipzilla time to smell the coffee (covfefe?).

For me PC will always be the way to go (especially for games), but Mac have certain advantages and that shouldn't be mocked. If I could move my rendering workflow (I can't - nvidia) I would stop using Windows long time ago. But if Apple comes with ARM chips which will offset the advantages of CUDA, sure why not.

For the next 2 gens Apple should be able to increase single and multithreaded performance (higher clocks and IPC, more cores, ect), but after that is where the true test will be. Will they be able to keep up with the rest? Rumors suggest that Zen4 will be a monster... only time will tell.

Isn't it amazing how marketing has now swung to mocking the other guy rather than simply touting the benefits of your own products? I suppose this came about the same time as politicians started doing the same thing and worst of all ..... we all bought into it.
It's funny because in the UK the remain camp for EU just mocked the Leave campaign and gave a bunch of predictions of what would happen if we left, instead of talking about the market benefits of being in the EU. F politicians.

PC doesn’t have to attack Mac.

As long as I can run any game I want on PC, or replace any part I want to with any part I want to, PC has already won.
it depends what you want in a computer, a laptop for general work with stellar battery life m1 laptop is ideal

And everything they warned about has come true...

100%. Apple is making a risky move. The time may have come for their chips to be simply superior and their R&D stays ahead. There is no law saying a laptop must run power hungry chips for marginal improvements.

Or, they may end up back in the 90's. Which is why they switched to Intel in the first place (and, especially, their laptops gained significant marketshare as a result).

Only time will tell but it's a very risky gamble in the long run.

Yes, once Apple abandons your system, as they commonly do, you just drop your hardware into the trash can. They have a limited use device that at this moment is great within its limitations.

How long before it is overtaken is anybody's guess, that it will be overtaken is just a matter of time. If it works for you great. I prefer systems that I can work on and upgrade, you, on the other hand, maybe happy with throw away systems. Get what you want.

Kinda of like the discussion a few days ago, Apple is the best brand of cell phone, True they sell the most by brand, yet they are only 13% of all new sales. So I guess if you want to buy the most expensive phone you buy an Apple phone, if you want a good affordable phone you buy other than Apple. Same with Computers except their market share is much smaller in computers.

Also so what is the big difference between 40% battery life left vs 10% at the end of your day? If you have enough battery to get through you day that is enough. And what happens to the speed when you are on battery, most laptops throttle the Processor down. Would you want the best processor speed possible and unless unable to then plug it in.

And let's not forget the outright fraudulent claims Apple commonly makes by using uneven benchmarks in their test. I recall one time in particular where they compared an Apple Computer to a PC and used different level compliers so that Apple could win, you know Apples to Oranges. The reason was if they used a modern compiler the Apple would lose on the benchmarks. Not saying Intel does any different just that for sure Apple usually lies about their products and suppresses the faults and bugs as long as they can. Unlike PC's which get weekly patches. Apples are much fewer and deny the many problems that they have as long as they can.

Apple supports their hardware as long or longer than pretty much any other hardware company... you want to provide evidence to the contrary?

I could easily fill pages with examples of Apple abandoning Hardware and software. Not going to waste my time.
Yet I recall one instance where they updated the bios which caused the CDROM to quit working and you had to buy a new updated one or it would have a working CDROM it is was a Dual-Core Mac. The Pioneer, only one that would work, cost 8x times what the same brand for a PC would cost something like $200 vs $25.

Or how about the recent issues in the last few years where they released an update that caused the cell phones to run really slow due to battery drains, the list is way too long to place it here, try googling for yourself. It is well-known fact unless you are a fanboi.

I wasn’t talking about issues - every company has those.... try googling ANY company and you’ll find tons...

I’m talking about SUPPORT!! You can still update an iPhone, for instance, for several years after you buy it... can you do that with very many Android phones?

Anyways - not a fanboy... just love to see the haters spout about how terrible the huge companies are... jealous maybe?

I can repair the android phone anywhere I want and I can buy spare parts... your turn now, let me see you defend apple on this.

Jealous of what? I can buy 5 new androids for what you pay for a new Apple phone, so every couple of years when the batteries dies you have to either put in a new battery for about 1/2 of what it costs me to get a new Android with the latest updates or buy a new expensive Apple phone.

Also what you say is not true, most android phones are useful for many more years than Apple phones as Apple updates make the old phone too slow to be useful or cause the batteries to drain way quickly.

Plus you are obviously a troll trying to find "Haters", I simply do not care if you waste your money, in my opinion, on an Apple Phone. My phone is not part of my identity, it is simply a tool. If Apples worked better, had better carrier support, and were cheaper, I would buy them.
As they are only 13% of the cell phone market, there are carriers and apps that do not work with Apple, which I use regularly. Your needs may be different.

I use Google Fi and Apple products are not fully supported. Google Fi costs me less than $20 a month for everything I need. An Apple phone service would cost at least 50% more every month for the same functions.

If you are looking for haters, look in the mirror there is one always there, waiting for you.

My nephew has a job repairing and replacing the batteries and screens on cell phones, both Android and Apple. He is my source of how quickly Apple phones become useless, he prefers Apple phones too and admits that they are not as useful in years or function as android phones, he prefers Apple style.

So basically Intel just killed any possible hope that apple might just keep a line of products using intel cpu's alive lol, Why burn a bridge like that seems pointless even in business terms

You haven't been around very long - remember that Samsung/Apple fight - didn't stop Apple buying samsung screens/chips . Sure Apple are like the British empire - screwing over all their Tea suppliers etc .
But going soft with Apple and they will kill and maim you until you are dead - They like many big corps are predatory - When you sign a contract to supply them - you read if 20 times - all liability will be yours.

So basically Intel can say anything - if Apple needs Intel - they will deal with Intel no matter some silly advertising

Throwing good money after bad, you are free to do whatever you want. I have seen the prices of Apple Offical Support it is often cheaper to buy a new phone than what Offical support charges you to fix yours. It is all part of the Apple world, You pay a lot for it new, when it fails as some of the recent ones due quickly, lots of broken screens, the official repair is close to 50% of the cost of a new phone. How about $300 for a new iPhone 12 Screen, I can buy 2 Moto G Stylus phones brand new with a warranty for that. It 's your money spend it on what you want, hell pretend you got a good deal, I don't care what you do with your money.

BTW fan boi, what models of Iphones come with a built-in Stylus?
My Moto does and they are new for less than $150 unlocked. Yes, I use the stylus often, my hands are pretty big.

Ohh... a stylus... I wish I had one of those... wait... I retired my PocketPC about 15 years ago...

And why on Earth are you comparing a Motorolla to an Apple? That's like comparing a Corolla to a Mercedes... Do you NEED the Mercedes? Probably not... but no one compares the 2 because they're completely different price brackets...

Compare the Apple to a Samsung... they cost about the same... and fanboys of both will extol their virtues - and failures... but Apple SUPPORTS theirs longer - and they sell more...

Right, I forgot how Apple tries to lock you into their expensive repairs, I just assume if someone has an Apple they have much more money than Brains.

That is the definition of official support. Both hardware and software MUST be supported. The right to repair is a fundamental right Apple is actively trying to destroy.

As for "software" support, we all know the scummery they were doing to older phones until they got caught.
Apple supports their hardware - letting you repair it yourself (Or through a 3rd party) is the opposite of support! THEY repair it for you!

Pfff hahahaha. This is just too funny. Some people just don't live in the same reality as others :)

You should seriously read up more on the subject before you write such comments.

dramatic acting:
"Please don't spend 20-40$ to repair the phone yourself or at your local repair shop, give us 200$ and we'll do it for you while also deleting everything on it too. Selling iPhone parts is banned because we want to make sure the repairs are 100% perfect."

I'm not going to debate the merits of the right to repair... it has nothing to do with SUPPORT.

Definition of "Support" from dictionary.com = allow the use or operation of (a program, language, or device).

Android aka Google (and other companies/operating systems) do NOT support their devices nearly as well or as long as Apple does.

it has everything to do with support but you are just trying to defend Apple because that's what apple fanboys do. what apple is doing is plain and simple egregious and you are supporting their scam. you are sending them your well earned money and saying: "please daddy, slap me more".

I've gotten two major Android updates and monthly updates for my android phone. you can't say you don't get software support. in general you get around 3 years of major updates and longer for security patches.

as for repairs I've used the warranty and I've also bought screens and batteries and made the repairs myself. you can't even buy apple parts and even if you use original parts Apple software blocks them.

you can swap screens from 2 new apple phones and both won't work. the same with batteries, cameras and other major components (apple is actively blocking repairs in the OS). apple is even sending legal threats if you show a schematic of a phone even though these are a requirement for repairs.

tl;dr: you are happily defending a scam. fanboyism at its finest.
