The initial Meltdown and Spectre patches didn't take care of everything and just recently Intel and Microsoft have rolled out updates to address Variant 4 a.k.a. 'Speculative Store Bypass'.

Pretty much as expected. Regular consumers can rest easy knowing these have little impact. Consumers should update to the latest BIOS to avoid being exploited.

These patches will mostly impact professional (depending on what you do) and enterprise users.

In your next round of tests maybe have something to exercise AVX, AVX2, and AVX512 as at my company that's what seems to be affected the most? Or really anything with double precision floating operations seems to suffer from the patches.

Can these updates have anything to do with the various blue screens I'm getting while playing games? I did a Windows update last night in which is restarted multiple times (seemed to be a large update), and after that, no more blue screens within the following 4-6 hours of gameplay.

Practically margin of error stuff.

Statistically unlikely to be just under in *every* test. Also imagining they re-ran the tests a few times and took averages or something as one-off runs would have much larger margins of error.
