IPX Networking w/ Warcraft II

I know this thread has already been posted, but i have tried all posted solutions and none of them have worked. I have tried to network my desktop with my brother's laptop so that we can play warcraft II together using an ipx network. i connected the computers with a crossover cable, but when either of us tries to join one another's game it gets stuck on "waiting for response". any suggestions?
