What just happened? Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard says it launched several cruise missiles at Amazon's data infrastructure in Bahrain, claiming the attack destroyed the facility. The alleged strike marks the latest escalation in the renewed conflict between Tehran and Washington, though neither Amazon nor US or Bahraini officials has confirmed that it actually happened.

The IRGC's Aerospace Force said it targeted what it described as Amazon's central data infrastructure in Bahrain. Iranian state-linked media made the announcement on Tuesday, adding that US air defense systems and radar installations in the Bahraini areas of Muharraq and Riffa were also attacked.

Iran said the operation was retaliation for a US strike on the Darkhovin nuclear power plant, which is still under construction in southwestern Iran. The United States has been carrying out nightly attacks across Iran since hostilities resumed earlier this month, while Tehran has targeted American military facilities and other US-linked sites throughout the Gulf.

There is currently no independent evidence confirming the IRGC's claim. Amazon did not comment when contacted by reporters, while officials in Bahrain and the US have remained silent.

AWS's public health dashboard states that its Middle East Bahrain region, known as me-south-1, is currently unavailable. However, this doesn't necessarily prove that Tuesday's attack took place. The region has been offline for months following earlier strikes connected to the conflict, and AWS's last public update on the situation was posted on April 30.

Iran has previously made clear that American technology companies are considered potential targets in this conflict. In April, the IRGC threatened Nvidia, Microsoft, Intel, Apple, Google, Meta, Oracle, and several other US firms, accusing them of supporting military operations against Iran. Employees were warned to evacuate their workplaces.

Days later, Iran threatened to annihilate the $30 billion Stargate UAE AI data center in Abu Dhabi. The planned 1GW facility is backed by OpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, Cisco, G42, and SoftBank.

With the Bahrain AWS region already unavailable, the effect of any new damage may be limited, but Iran's latest claim is a reminder of the risks facing American-owned digital infrastructure across the Middle East.

They problem is that they are fighting a different war. Sure, the US wants the Straight opened, fine. The US is fighting a conventional war against guerrilla fighters. We seem to keep doing this and thinking "this time will be different". These guerrilla groups aren't just in Iran, either. That would require most of his critics to be able to think beyond an elementary school level.

There is plenty to criticize the man about, like his constant flip flopping on issues, or his many broken promises, or his now declining mental acuity. The problem is, if one actually criticizes him for his faults, the mirror of hypocrisy stands right behind him. For the majority of his failures, he's really no different then any other uniparty president.

Like remember when people were melting down over him talking about a third term, and how congress was moving to make it happen? That was one guy in congress proposing it, and every president since at least Clinton has had a similar proposal.from some random congressman. It never goes anywhere for obvious reasons, but while it wasn't an issue for Obama, clearly it means trump will be the god emperor.

Or his declining mental state. He's clearly very old now, and not all there, but those who say he shouldn't be president because of it ran interference for Biden for almost half a decade. He was totally against this war in January, like every president before him, but for reasons unknown he flip flopped on it against the advice of everyone in his cabinet, pleasing one group and sending the world's market into a tizzy.

Strangely, the biggest trump critics have gotten real quiet about some of the bills he is expected to approve from congress, like the one mandating spy cameras in cars, likely because it's a bipartisan effort and we can't criticize our own side.

There are those who do argue against him, but the media doesn't acknowledge them because they criticize both sides of the aisle. Trump isn't even 1 percent as based as his critics paint him as. He just runs his mouth on twitter, and he will be far from the last to do so.

I will say that Trump has always been outspoken against Iran having nukes (for decades). So, not sure where you're getting him being against de-nuclearizing Iran...
