Jumpy mous pointer

i hope this is the right place to ask this: my mouse pointer has been getting very jumpy of late and seems to want to wander about the screen by itself

i'm using windows xp and have kaspersky anti virus up too date


anyone got any ideas about the cause?- its a usb mouse made by technica

Did you try going into device manager and uninstalling the mouse, then letting windows reinstall the drivers? (with some computers I have had to reboot before it worked correctly)

My pointers jump occasionally as well. You have laser or optical, correct? Sometimes the light bounces of the wrong way from the surface and makes you PC think you moved the mouse very fast. Try using a nice mouse pad.
