Lenevo 3000N100 0768 A75 -- Inbuilt mic not working

Hi

I have a Lenevo 3000N100 0768 A75 Laptop.
I am not able use its inbuilt mic.

Whenever I try to record the sound using sound recorder, its not getting recorded.

Bt the same is getting recorded when done using an external mike.

It'll b really great if someone can help me in getting this rectified.

would guess at a couple things to check

you don't indicate if you're XP or Vista

For both XP and Vista
=> Check via Control Panel->Sound for the settings of default devices. I'd guess the onboard vs. external mics are two different devices and default is set to external

For Vista
=> Check Microphone properties. I think on Advanced tab (but somewhere in there) should be an option to check a box that allows an to grab exclusive use. This should be unchecked
