LF suggestions for a new PC

Hey all, im looking to upgrade my 3 years old pentiumD, geforce 8600GT system with something newer and after some research i got to this configuration:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
MB ASUS P5QL-PRO INTEL P43/ICH10
Kingston KVR800D2N5/2G + Kingston KVR800D2N5/1G
HDD WD5000AADS
CHIEFTEC A-135 500W APS-500S
ASUS EAH4870/HTDI/512M
- op sys on 32 bit
all in a budget of aprox 800$.

I'll be using the new PC for software developing and gaming.
Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated.

Asus nake great boards but are known to be very picky about the RAM installed. Every Asus motherboard model is given a list of recommended RAM for said motherboard.

Make sure the Kingston (they make an excellent product) is the right Kingston for that Asus.

Also, get a better power supply.

i checked the manual of the motherboard and it seems that this model of RAMs are compatible.

What power supply would you recomand for such a system ?

Are you including the cost of OS in $800? How much is the OS coming to?

I would definitely select a different processor. At your budget the AND Phenom II X4 955 BE is the best buy. Going with an i5 would be slightly more expensive.

Also look at the Corsair 550VX PSU.

Comes to approximately $750.
