Mic picks up everything

Hi guys, this is actually a continuation of my last post which did not get any replies at all, but I have narrowed down my microphone problems even more, for some reason, when i record my voice or talk in vent, the microphone plays back the sounds i am hearing in my headphones. I'm using my onboard soundcard (Realtek HD Audio) and i tried moving my headphones further away and still nothing

Go into Control Panel, Audio and turn down the Mic's sensitivity... or uncheck "Boost" if checked

Thanks for the help, but I ended up figuring out the problem on my own, it turns out, even when my microphone was unplugged, people in ventrilo would STILL be able to hear what i was hearing, so I went ahead and played with things under Volume Control, and it started working all of the sudden!
