Mini cassette

what is the best way to view a mini cassette, prior to editing?
is playing it through firewire going to affect the quality of the film?

Easiest way is to just view it the little camera screen...
Streaming it to you're computer using hi-def firewire will retain the quality for miniDV's (I think...I believe the only two options are firewire or USB, and USB will degrade quality if I remember).
