Monitor display 2 apps

I have an external monitor connected to my lenovo thinkpad. I want to display two different applications. 1 monitor would be Excel, the 2nd screen MS project. I am only.able to display one app on both monitors.

I found this on a google search this might help. Not sure about all the other stuff on there because I dont know which one you have but the instructions should be what you need.

Yes, Windows Display Options Menu and choose "Extend" is the correct choice. The other choice is mirror which we use when the secondary is a projector.
