Monitor light blinks on and off

A friend of mines computer starts, but his green monitor light blinks on and off.(he uses a CRT). Any suggestions?

The light blinks green? Or orange?
Usually a blinking light means no signal. Meaning the PC is not sending a signal out the video card, meaning something on the PC is trashed.

Easiest thing to do is test the monitor real quick on another PC that IS working. If the monitor works, then something is wrong with the PC. And you'll have to troubleshoot it from there.

But this will get you started. Chances are good it's not the monitor that is the problem.
