Monitor shuts off , everything else on

For the past couple of days, my monitor has been like closing end and then turning black. But everything else is running, hard drive, video card ( the green light is on ) , etc.

I checked everything, might be the cords or it could the monitor. Now i was told my monitor was dying, but i am online right now. Infact its been working all day today, no problems. Do you think its working fine, but do you think i need to buy a whole new monitor?

Also, how do you open it up?

expert at what? Trying to open up my monitor which i don't know or trying to figure out why monitor " was shutting off couple days ago "?

How would i know, thats why i am asking.
