Montor say going to sleep

My montor will turn on but than it will say going to sleep. I have tried to unplug everything, it will not work. I plugged the montor to my laptop it came on, but not to my desk top. I don't know what would be wrong. ? Anyone know what it could be? Kat

Sounds like it's not getting a signal from the video card on your desktop. It may have failed.

If it's an expansion slot card, try reseating it.
