MSI AC97 audio problem

Hi all,

I'm running a recent MSI mobo with onboard AC97 sound. I've hooked up 5.1 speakers to it via the 3-cable setup, and everything works fine - except for the front left speaker. Both fronts are connected to the line out port, and the right one operates as normal, but the left one is very quiet. I need to crank the volume on the amp all the way up to hear anything on it. I'm trying whatever drivers I can get my hands on, but nothing's worked yet. Any ideas?

BTW, specs are:

AMD 64bit 3200+
512 meg DDR
2 x 160gig Samsung HDs (7200 rpm)
256 meg Radeon 9800 pro
2 IDE DVD drives

Thanks in advance.

Edit: just fiddled with it a bit, and when the jack is slightly out of the port, the left front comes on. But slide it in all the way, and it flips back to the right. Grr.

Ok, never mind. Fixed it, but this may be useful as reference:

My machine has 2 line-out jacks: one on the front, one on the back. With the 3-cable set up to 5.1 sound, use the jack on the FRONT of the machine for front speakers, and use the rear of the machine's jacks for rear and centre output. Hope this helps someone who stumbles across it.
