My Acer drive doesnt seem to work with DVD-Rs, what should I do?
I had another question, whats the difference between -R and +R, is it just that the second one is rewritable?
Thanks.

Big difference in -R and +R (neither are re-writeable) and +RW = rewriteable... many DVD burners will not burn both types... but will read both types... Nero Utilites (Free) will check your Burner and tell you what it is compatible with Your manual should also tell you what your burner will and will not do.... the web site for your burner will also have all this info...

My Acer DVD drive can't seem to read DVD-Rs

I don't have a DVD burner, the problem is my Acer Drive can't seem to read DVD-Rs, recorded DVDs, i tried 2 of them and they dont seem to work, factory DVDs work perfectly. What can I do? the system hangs up after I put them in and then I need to eject the discs to be able to start using my computer again.

Guess I missed that part... but if you will give the Acer Model Number of the DVD Reader I'll check and see what it has the ability to read....
It might only need the BIOS re flashed....due to being corrupted some how.
and some 3rd party software can make them unusable.
1. what OS are you using.
2. version of Acer DVD Reader
3. Bios on DVD Reader
4. do you have any problems with CD's - if yes - see 5
5. what version of CDs does it not read. -R's or RW's
