need help with Win2k Filesharing issue

I have to shutdown one server adn move all the file from the old server to new server. Now if I want to map drive with old name on the new server without renaming the server. Is it possible? Like having the cname entry in dns and so on? I have tried to do it with dns entry but it is not working Is there any way?

eg:

My new server name is: rpcadd
My old server namewas cadsrv

instead of mapiing drive by \\rpabcd can I use \\cadsrv? what need to be done to take care of this? I need help badly. I have shut down the old server so there is no name conflict. The new server is win2000 one.

You should be able to click on /Tools/Map Drive and then "browse" for that drive you want to map, rather than force a name on it.

It is fixed.

I tried following settings in the registry:

Key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

Value Name: OptionalNames

Type: REG_MULTI_SZ

Data: <alias names>
