A few weeks ago while I was working on 2 laptops, I pulled the external speaker plug out of the rear jack on my W10 desktop to use on the laptop(s). Now I don't get ANY sound out of rear jack so I have to use front headphone jack. NO yellow ! marks in Device Manager. I know my speakers work, but just not on rear. They DID work fine before.

Windows can't find speakers. There are 3 or 4 separate places to configure involved in identifying, installing driver, setting sound level, defining configuration and it is PIA.

Try: remove physical plug, remove speakers from device manager, reboot, plug in rear - if still not working reboot again and check toolbar speaker settings - vol and settings, device manager speakers and audio, etc. "sound" in search box gives several others.

@microsoft It is not a feature.
