Obama administration calls in tech honchos to discuss HealthCare.gov, NSA

US President Barack Obama will meet Tuesday with executives from the country's top tech companies to discuss some burning issues including HealthCare.gov, national security, NSA surveillance, and economic impacts of unauthorized intelligence disclosures, according to CNN.

A major part of the discussion would focus on HealthCare.gov's operational issues and how those can be fixed. Since its launch in October, the website has faced many issues including crashes, down time and possible privacy violations. Although the administration announced earlier this month that a lot of bugs and glitches have been resolved, resulting in 90% uptime and only 1% error rate, it still wants the US tech sector's help in improving the website further.

The meeting of minds at White House will also focus on new and effective ways of partnership with the tech sector to create jobs, boost economy, and address income inequality and social mobility issues. Around 15 executives including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt, and Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg are expected to attend the meeting.

The meeting comes a day after a federal judge ruled NSA's bulk collection of domestic phone records as unconstitutional, and a week after top American technology companies jointly lashed out at the Obama administration for its surveillance programs.

The man's certainly busy and gets about a lot. It wasn't a week ago I saw him at Nelson Mandela's memorial service at Soccer City looking all bereaved and now back in the States about to deliver a stern faced talk to tech execs.

Lets be realistic here, 100% of Americans are under some kind of Gov't aid, the poor get financial help as much as the rich do, they just get it differently.

Well... that depends, do you think the money you earn belongs to you? if yes, then a tax break isn't the government giving you money, its you keeping your own money. If you believe, like Obama does, that the money you make belongs to the govt, then a tax break IS the government giving you money.

Yes, 100% of us do receive govt aid. A gallon of milk should cost about $6/gallon, but it doesn't because farm subsidies from the 1930s are still around. When we talk about govt aid though, what we're talking about is people who are receiving more than they're putting in. Every person is either increasing or decreasing the govt's bottom line. I know I'm increasing it because my taxes paid are definitely NOT returned to me in the form of puny little govt benefits that I don't even notice.

On my paycheck I have Employee Medicare, Federal Income Tax, Social Security Employee Tax, and Wisconsin State Income Tax all taken out. Then with the money I keep I pay tax on whatever I buy in the form of sales tax, gas tax, etc.

It sure doesn't feel like I'm getting any kind of aid.

At this point, Uncle Sam takes about 35% of my pay, not including land/school taxes. Dangerous times and destructive revolutionist public acts will begin as they edge closer to 50%.
