I just re-loaded Windows XP ...things are looking good, though I still have old files, programs etc., in windows explorer. I thought a clean re-install wiped everything?
Id sooo love to get rid of this hairball of files. How can I get rid of all the old files?

Please help...Im learning...but its a slow process. Hehehee

Welcome to TechSpot Forums

If you reinstall the same version of Windows to the same partition, it just deletes the old Windows directory, not anything (not even the files that installed with Windows) from Program Files or Documents and Settings. You have to delete the files manually from those directories.

Well if you just reinstalled Windows, I would just start over and format everything to get rid of the programs permanently. This will also get rid of any data you have on there that you might want to keep, so be sure to back anything up you want to hold onto.
