Open & repair facility on it either asa far as I can see

I have an important report which I’ve just nearly finished and it’s been corrupted somehow….mostly all converted to chinese and other crazy symbols with some english text remaining here and there.

I have tried nearly everything solution that I can find on the internet apart from word’s open and repair…but I can’t find it!

I am running word office 2007 on windows 7…I have tried office button…but there is no arrow next to open where I believe open & repair should be.

I have in desperation just purchased word for mac 2011 (since I’ve just upgraded to a macbook pro) and find that there’s no open & repair facility on it either asa far as I can see!!!

Open recoverable text just gives me the small amount of english text which is not helpful.

Can someone please help as I am pulling my hair out! Really do need to get my report back quick!

Hi, Using Word 2010 here.
On this version it would be; File, Open,
(Small black 'down arrow' next to Open)
then the last option on the list is 'Open and repair'.
Otherwise is it possible that you have some previous versions of your file 'Autosaved'?
They would be at; File, Options, Save,
then look for the option; 'Autorecover file location'.
