PC noise getting mixed up with audio output?

Hey,
I just got a pair of studio monitors. They're plugged into my PC directly, into the onboard audio.
The problem is that im hearing quite a loud noise coming out of the monitors almost all the time. It stops only when an action is performed on the pc, like clicking or loading from the hard drive. Otherwise, when the pc is idle, there is this noise. It's the same noise i can hear myself coming out of the case, it's very silent, its just that normal noise that PC's are doing (im not sure where it comes from exactly, it's not a fan i'd guess), but it gets somehow into the audio output and the monitors amplify it.

EDIT: Also i tried the monitors with friends laptop - it does the same thing BUT ONLY when the laptop is being charged, if it's on the battery only everything is OK.

What should i do to get rid of this?
Thanks!

Are your connection cables shielded? You could simply be getting interference, either from the power cable or from a device within the PC. I know unshielded audio cables will have problems with interference.
