Power Station

Given that there are such structures as the Crystal Cathedral, the Taj Mahal, and the Alhambra, do you think the pedestrian moniker, "Power Station", really does this thing justice......?

Perhaps you might deem it appropriate to ponder something more expansive. Something like, "The Magnificent and Glorious Temple of Technological Excess".

Did you know that the Germans used to install sirens in the wings of their Stuka dive bombers, to intimidate the about to be bombed beneath them? Just a thought, but isn't that something you might consider installing behind the case fans?

Naw.....I just like "The Power Station" .....hey! what are you implying about the Germans?? :p besides, I just want to make sure I don't have a power supply cut out whilst viewing the likes of 'Kylie' in glorious eyefinity!

Coming right up.....Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.......

I liken it to that of a nuclear reactor... Just not of the type Chernobyl used! :D

...with the 3x HD 5850's I am having no problems with the likes of Metro 2033 maxed out DX11.
Hope you're using Cat 10.5 then...10.6, and now 10.7 are starting a worrying trend downwards in Crossfire performance. I just reinstalled 10.5 on my (temporary) 5850's and the performance difference is quite marked.

thanks or the heads up, Im using 10.6 and playing the 'tunnel' level with very good frame rates for now. what is the problem I wonder?

Not sure. I noticed that the framerates for Crossfire seemed down when the GTX 460 SLI versus HD 5xxx benchmarks started coming out on review sites. AMD Game Forums and some other tech sites were getting a lot of comments about bad framerates in BFBC2 with 10.6 and some reviews that have started using 10.7 in Crossfire v SLI (or Crossfire in general) are showing some disturbing numbers. i.e.

Benchmark Reviews GTX 460 SLI v HD 5970
BeHardware GTX 460 SLI v HD 5970
Most of the review sites have been inundated with AMD fanbois accusing all the sites of rampant bias, but when respected sites like [H] and BeHardware start producing similar numbers then it (except for the rabid minority) looks rather more like Crossfire driver profiles falling over, since single card performance looks largely unaffected. Worth taking into account and keeping an eye on. I'm sure AMD haven't decided to help along the sales of GTX 460's (in double helpings) out of the goodness of their hearts.
I don't think it will be long before a tech site does a comparitive scaling analysis of different Catalyst CrossfireX driver/profiles over the last few months..........................hint, hint.

EDIT: I just installed Metro 2033 onto my secondary rig and will run through using the 5850's with a few Cat revisions. I don't have BFBC2, but I'll be checking STALKER:CoP and a few of the downloadable benchmark runs from Xbit and the like.

HMMM not good, I just played a bit of COP and it worked very well, maybe i will hang with 10.5-10.6 for a while until they get this figured out.
