Problems with Internet connection

On my laptop upstairs, it says it's connected to the internet but at random times, it will not allow me to load any web pages, and during other times it will be completely fine. I've gone downstairs and used my parents laptop and the internet connection on it is perfectly fine. Any reasons why this is happening?

How are you connected on your laptop upstairs? wireless or DSL? If wireless,it could be due to walls & floor(s).

Wireless. I system restored to a point ~3 weeks ago and it seems to be working fine now. Probably was some update or sometihng.

You should know system restore is NOT a fix all & sometimes can make the situation/problem worse.
If it was some update, you could of undone that update. About System Restore
